Dear Friends,

The purpose of the letter writing campaign by Honor Flight Philadelphia is to ask schools and community groups to assist in writing thank you letters to veterans who participate in their annual trip to Washington, D.C. ​The letters are distributed to each veteran during their return home. ​ The campaign aims to show appreciation to the veterans for their service and sacrifice. ​ The ’Instructional Letter’ in the middle section below, provides instructions for writing the letters, such as - not dating them, addressing the veterans as "Dear Veteran" instead of specifying their war, and optionally including the school's return address so that veterans can write back to the students. ​ Schools and community groups can also spread awareness about the letter writing campaign among their students and members, encouraging them to participate and express their gratitude to the veterans. They can organize letter writing sessions or assign it as a project to engage more individuals in the campaign - (great school project with Memorial Day coming up)!
